BORROWING FROM ANOTHER LIBRARY
Prospector or Interlibrary Loan?

Prospector is a unified catalog of 25 academic, public and special libraries in Colorado & Wyoming. You can order materials that are checked out, missing, or not owned by Auraria Library.  Through Prospector you have access to over 22 million books, journals, DVDs, CDs, videos and other materials. With a single search you can identify and request materials from local member libraries and have them quickly delivered to your home library.   Auraria Library uses an online electronic interlibrary loan system called ILLiad for ordering books, materials and journal articles which are not owned or available in the Auraria Library's collection through a nation-wide and world-wide network.

If you are a first time user, register using First Time User Registration. Otherwise, enter your username and password to logon to your ILL account.
Both services are free for Auraria affiliated students, faculty and staff.
You must be a registered Auraria student, faculty or staff in good standing.
Any patron account blocks must be cleared at the Circulation Desk or Administration.
To view your library account status login on the Library homepage.
Auraria Library abides by all provisions of the U.S. Copyright Law.
Start your search with the Skyline catalog and move from our local catalog to the Prospector catalog using the Search Prospector button. When you find what you want, choose the Request Item button and follow instructions.   Start your search with the Skyline catalog and Auraria Library’s electronic databases to see what materials and journals are locally owned and available. Use the WorldCat catalog to find nation-wide and world-wide resources, then click external resource, interlibrary loan, to automatically fill out an ILL request.
Prospector is usually faster than ILL for physical items, e.g. books, videos, DVDs.
Journal articles can be requested through Prospector, choose the Request Article button
and you will be directed to an ILL request form.
Prospector has a pre-set 3 week loan period with one renewal period of 3 weeks.   ILL loan periods and any renewal options are determined by the lending library and vary widely.
You can check the status of your Prospector requests at any time by logging into your Auraria Library account on the Library homepage.   You can check the status of your ILL requests at any time by logging into your ILL account at https://cudenver.illiad.oclc.org/illiad/logon.html.
You will be notified by email when your request is filled.
All materials are picked up at the Circulation Desk.   Pick up physical items at the Circulation Desk. Journal articles are available electronically in your ILL account.
Requests for items owned by the Auraria Library will not be filled.
Exceptions are made for materials that are checked out or missing.
You are allowed up to 40 requests at any one time.   Course textbooks requests will not be filled. See our Locating textbooks guide
